1. You guys, I think I solved the mystery of the perfect canned chickpeas/blender hummus recipe. The first time I tried it, it was kind of chunky and awkward but this time it was PERFECT. PERRRFEEEECT.
I used: one can chickpeas, about a 1/2 cup liquid reserved from the chickpeas, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp jarred minced garlic (about 2 garlic cloves), and 2.5-3 tbsp lemon juice. I also added chili powder, oregano, black pepper, and cumin to taste.
I microwaved the chickpeas and the reserved liquid in a bowl for about thirty seconds. Then I poured about a third of the chickpeas/liquid combo and combined it with the rest of the ingredients, sans spices, and blended until smooth. Added another third, blended until smooth; added last third, and yeah. Then added spices. Now nomming like nobody’s business and dancing around to Ted Leo in my living room, victoriously. :D Pretty much never buying store-bought hummus again. This is awesome.
